2. Find your size by interior position
If you know which light you're replacing, this is the fastest path:

3. Measure your existing bulb
If your car isn't in the table and you know the position, the surest method is to pull the old bulb and measure end-cap to end-cap:
- Pop the lens cover off the affected light.
- Slide one end-cap of the festoon out of its spring contact, then lift the bulb free.
- Measure with a ruler from end-cap to end-cap (millimeters).
- Match to one of these six sizes: 28mm · 31mm · 36mm · 39mm · 42mm · 44mm
If your measurement is between two sizes (e.g., 30mm), the larger Festoon socket accepts the smaller bulb in many cases — but check the spring tension. When uncertain, our by-position guide above (or the YMM finder at /pages/fitment) will narrow it down.

How to install (60 seconds)
- Remove the lens cover. Pry gently with a fingernail, credit card edge, or trim tool. Most interior lenses snap off easily.
- Pull out the old festoon. Slide one end-cap out of the spring contact, then lift the bulb free. No twisting needed.
- Insert the matching Driveon LED. Push both end-caps between the spring contacts. LEDs are polarity-sensitive — if it doesn't light up, flip the bulb 180° and re-insert.
- Test and replace the cover. Verify the LED lights up, then snap the lens cover back in. Total time: about 60 seconds per bulb.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I measure my existing festoon bulb?
Remove the bulb (slide one end out from the spring contact, then pull it free). Measure end-cap to end-cap with a ruler. Compare to the size chart above — 28-29mm, 31mm, 36mm, 39mm, 41-42mm, or 44mm. If you're between two sizes, the smaller one is usually correct (festoon sockets have slight tolerance).
Are 28mm and 29mm the same?
Yes. Same physical bulb — Hella calls them 28mm (DE3021/DE3022), Sylvania calls them 29mm (6612F/6614F/6615F). Industry uses both names interchangeably for the same socket.
Are 41mm and 42mm the same?
Yes. Same physical bulb (211-2 / 578). Different parts catalogs round the length differently — the actual bulb measures ~41.4mm. The socket has spring contacts that accept either.
Can I use a 31mm bulb in a 36mm socket?
No. Festoon bulbs need to span between two spring contacts. A bulb that's too short will fall out or fail to make contact. Always match the size — if you're unsure, measure first.
Why are there so many sizes?
Festoon bulbs evolved over decades, with European and American manufacturers settling on different lengths for different housing sizes. The result: 6 common sizes from 28mm (small vanity) to 44mm (large trunk). Use our by-vehicle and by-position guides above to find yours quickly.
What's the difference between DE3175 and 6428?
Brand. Both are 31mm festoon bulbs — DE3175 is Hella, 6428 is Sylvania. Same socket, same bulb. Our Driveon 31mm LED replaces both.

Do I need different colors for different positions?
Most positions look best with white (6000K cool white) for an OEM-modern look or halogen-white (3000K warm) for a factory feel. Vanity and map lights are usually white. License plate areas legally require white in most US states.
