What is a 31mm festoon LED bulb used for?
31mm festoon bulbs (DE3175 / 6428) are the most common interior festoon size in North American cars. They are the standard for map lights and many sedan/SUV dome lights from 2008 onward. Also called "1.22 inch" festoon.

How to install (60 seconds)
- Pop off the lens cover. Use your fingernail, a credit card edge, or a small flathead. Gentle pry — lenses snap back in easily.
- Pull out the old bulb. Festoon bulbs sit between two spring contacts. Pull straight out (no twisting).
- Insert the Driveon LED. Push the LED into the spring contacts. LEDs are polarity-sensitive — if it doesn't light up, flip it 180° and re-insert.
- Test, then snap the cover back. Turn on the light to verify, then click the lens cover into place. Done — total time 60 seconds per bulb.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is DE3175 the same as 6428?
Yes — same bulb, different brand catalogs. DE3175 is Hella's part number, 6428 is Sylvania's. Both are 31mm festoon. Our Driveon LED replaces either.
Will this fit my map light?
If your map light uses a 31mm festoon (the most common North American size — see fitment table above), yes. If unsure, measure your existing bulb. 31mm is roughly 1.22 inches long.
Will this fit my dome light?
31mm festoon is also used for dome lights on many sedans and SUVs (Honda Accord, Mazda CX-5, Toyota Sienna, etc.). Check the verified fitment table above for your vehicle.
Do I need to change anything else?
No. These are plug-and-play — push them in where the halogen festoon was. The LED is polarity-sensitive, so if it doesn't light, flip it 180°.
Will they cause dashboard warnings?
No. Built-in CANBUS handling prevents "bulb out" warnings on cars that monitor interior bulb circuits.
