The Ford Ranger made its comeback to the US market in 2019 — one of the most popular midsize trucks ever since. But if you're driving an XL or XLT, you're stuck with factory halogen headlights that are dim, yellowish, and not nearly enough for dark roads or trail driving.
Simple upgrade: every 2019–2023 XL/XLT uses the same H11 low / 9005 high / H11 fog setup. Ford trucks are CANBUS-picky though — the Summit's built-in decoder avoids "bulb out" warnings.
Lariat comes with factory LED by default — not covered. 2024+ Ranger (new generation) is factory LED across all trims — also not covered.

|---|---|---|
| Lumens | 10,000LM/pair | 5,000LM/pair |

Our recommendation: If you tow, haul, or drive on unlit roads regularly — go with the V7S. For a clean, reliable daily-driver upgrade, the V4S is the smart choice.
How to Install LED Headlights on a Ford Ranger
No mechanic needed. No tools required. The Ranger has good engine bay access to the back of the headlight housings — this is one of the easiest LED swaps you'll do.
1. Pop the hood and locate the headlight housing. The back of the headlight assembly is clearly visible on both sides. No need to remove the battery or air intake.
2. Remove the dust cap. Twist the round dust cap counterclockwise and pull it off to expose the bulb.
3. Remove the old halogen bulb. Twist the bulb socket counterclockwise (about a quarter turn) and pull it straight out. Disconnect the electrical connector.
4. Install the LED bulb. Plug the Driveon LED bulb into the connector. Insert it into the housing and twist clockwise to lock it in. Position the LED chips at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock (horizontal) for the correct beam pattern.
5. Test before closing up. Turn on your headlights. Aim at a wall or garage door — you should see a sharp, flat cutoff line on low beam with no glare above it.
6. Repeat for the other side.
Total time: 15–20 minutes for both sides.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will LED headlights throw "bulb out" error codes on my Ranger?
Ford trucks are CANBUS-picky. The V7S has a built-in decoder that prevents dashboard warnings. The V4S works on most Rangers without issues; if a warning appears, a simple $10 decoder harness fixes it.
I have a 2019–2023 Lariat — can I upgrade?
The Lariat comes with factory LED projector headlights by default. These are sealed LED units — not bulb-replaceable. Ford did offer a halogen downgrade option (with a $500 credit) on some orders — if your Lariat has a round reflector bowl and yellowish glow, you got the halogen option and can use Configuration A.
Can I use the same H11 LED for low beam AND fog lights?
Yes. The Ranger uses H11 for both positions — order an extra pair of V7S/Coast H11 for your fogs to match.
I have a 2024+ Ranger (new generation) — can I upgrade?
No. The all-new 2024 Ranger comes with factory LED across every trim — XL, XLT, Lariat, Raptor. Sealed LED units, not bulb-replaceable.
Are LED headlights legal on the Ranger?
Yes. LED replacement bulbs are legal for on-road use as long as they produce a proper beam pattern with a sharp cutoff line. Both Summit and Coast replicate the factory halogen beam.
How long do LED headlights last?
Both Coast and Summit are rated for 50,000+ hours.
